Yesterday Apple announced its first event of 2022, set to take place next Tuesday, March 8th, 2022. Featuring the tagline “Peek Performance.” Along with a newly designed image for the event, a set of nested Apple icons in yellow, orange, red, pink, and purple shades. And no, that’s not a typo: instead of “peak performance,” which would mean something along the lines of “max performance,” Apple is opting for “peek performance.” This seemingly means that we’ll get a “quick or furtive” look at some sort of performance technology. The video below will be an active YouTube link once the event starts streaming on Monday. 

I know I skipped the 2021 Super Bowl list, and I’m a few weeks late with this one, but I think it’s essential to keep some sort of tradition going with Inside That Ad even though I don’t post much on it anymore. I made a bet with a friend of mine on the outcome of the first World Series game which the Atlanta Braves won. I just so happen to have won the bet and to celebrate my victory I sent my friend this photoshopped image.

I made this by taking a Voyager ad that I found on Twitter and modifying it to be funny enough to send to my friend. Although the empty space at the lower left side of the ad I should have included the section about the BTC. It would have made the comparison more equivalent. I have to be honest and share with the two readers of this blog that I’ve recently put in a lot of time into creating YouTube videos and trying to build a following. A following is the audience in marketing speak. 

Anyway, creating these videos has also led me to watch more of my favorite content creators on YouTube. Their topics range from Mac automation like my channel all the way through topics such as the Linux operating system. I was reading the Wall Street Journal a few days ago and discovered that one of my favorite YouTuber’s (MKBHD) ads appears on the Journal’s website.

This Diet Pepsi print ad has to be one of the most clever Diet Pepsi print ads that I’ve ever seen. It implies that people will believe that they will get so thin that they fit in a mouse hole because they drank Diet Pepsi. I mean, it happened with the cat, right? Do advertisers believe that their customers are that stupid? Comments are welcomed and appreciated in the comment section. I’d love to know what you guys think. Did the cat finally realize that any Pepsi products don’t help you to lose weight? The cat probably got stuck in the home and ended up dying within the walls.

Nike, one of my favorite shoe brands of all time, recently released an ad calling on all Americans not to do what their brand usually tells them to do. Instead, one of the nation’s leading athletic apparel companies called on individuals to not turn their back on the painful issue of racism in the United States. The ads themselves are a series of simple yet powerful statements set on a black background. The comments themselves are a series of cowardice or adverse actions that we should not do. For example, don’t pretend there’s not a problem in America. Don’t turn your back on racism. Don’t accept innocent lives being taken from us. Don’t make any more excuses. Don’t think this doesn’t affect you. Don’t sit back and be silent."

Here is another advertising treasure I recently discovered, a 1984 Macintosh commercial that featured former Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates. It’s actually not a commercial but a promotional video that featured the billionaire. I believe it is the Apple II being featured, its biggest selling points according to the promo video? The GUI interface and the pointer mouse. Can you believe how time just flies? Now we have 10 times that power in Android and iOS phones.

If Burger King and McDonald’s can work together on a humanitarian ad campaign, why can’t the rest of the world? If you’re a fan of burgers, it’s no surprise that the competitors are often guilty of throwing serious shade towards one another in front of millions of eyeballs but for just one day they are working in unison for a common goal.

Burger King, Argentina went one day without selling any whoppers in support of McDonald’s  with their annual fundraising campaign of donating $2 to Children With Cancer for every Big Mac and the signature burger that they sell. This seems to go over well with the public at least an appearance on social media. The net impact of Burger King sales of their most popular whopper wasn’t impacted at all. But unfortunately, the same thing applies for McDonald’s sales meaning that customers just showed up to buy their favorite burger.
