I wanted to post this quickly since it’s the first day of blessed month. I must say, I’m wondering how I was selected to receive this postcard, I’ve never interacted with this particular nonprofit. Can someone out there in the inter webs let me know what kind of marketing list my name is on that I was able to receive the card? Let me know down in the comments. I’m appreciative of the card I would just like to know why I received it, it’s not because of my name right?

An Alexa for the Middle East?

I’m not sure that this is an actual Alexa commercial but it demonstrates the kind of questions that would be asked of Amazon’s Alexa in the Middle East. I’ve found a couple of these types of videos online lately. Also, I recently discovered that Amazon is launching Alexa in Saudi Arabia which I think is very cool.

YouTube Creators and Sponsorships

I have to be honest and share with the two readers of this blog that I’ve recently put in a lot of time into creating YouTube videos and trying to build a following. A following is the audience in marketing speak.

Anyway, creating these videos has also led me to watch more of my favorite content creators on YouTube. Their topics range from Mac automation like my channel all the way through topics such as the Linux operating system. I was reading the Wall Street Journal a few days ago and discovered that one of my favorite YouTuber’s (MKBHD) ads appears on the Journal’s website.

Macintosh: The Computer for the Rest of Us

Here is another advertising treasure I recently discovered, a 1984 Macintosh commercial that featured former Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates. It’s actually not a commercial but a promotional video that featured the billionaire. I believe it is the Apple II being featured, its biggest selling points according to the promo video? The GUI interface and the pointer mouse. Can you believe how time just flies? Now we have 10 times that power in Android and iOS phones.

Should Inside That Ad Start a YouTube Channel?

Hello World,

I’ve been thinking about how I could possibly start an Inside That Ad (ITA) YouTube channel. Do you guys think that’s even possible? The reason I am considering a YouTube channel for the ITA blog is for three reasons:

Reasons:

- There isn’t advertising and or a marketing channel like the ITA blog on YouTube. You know, a channel the discusses the ad as content along with the ad’s creators (i.e. ad agency or marketing firm.

- YouTube as a marketing channel will expose the blog via its videos to a wider audience. That audience will already be there and searching for videos to watch.

- If videos take off with respect to views, the YouTube partner program can be another source of revenue for the blog. Let’s be completely honest with you. I’m trying to make the blog, [Teespring](https://teespring.com/stores/bocciamans-store) sales and possibly the videos a legitimate source of income. Right now, everything I’m doing online to try to generate income can be considered simply a hobby.

Your Job

The reason I need you, the audience is to not only support my endeavor but also help me develop a possible format for the videos that will be uploaded on to the new YouTube channel.

BocciaMan Store Logo

Hello World,

The first blog post of 2019 will be for showing off the new logo I had designed for the new custom t-shirt design business I started in early December of 2018. It’s still not really off the ground yet but I’m really trying. The business (BocciaMan’s Store) has already made more then this blog ever did so I see it as a good thing.

I worked with a designer and this is the final concept that I liked and approved. The first design I was presented with showed the figure in the image above wearing a cap and had multiple colors. In the second and final draft, the image was changed to a solid color and the hat was removed.

Inside That Ad is Back on Wednesday's in 2019

ITA will be back to posting regularly in 2019. This time though I’m going to “try” to stick to a strict weekly schedule. It will most likely be Wednesday at 8 PM PST. Look for the first official post of 2019 on Wednesday, January 8th.

I stopped posting for a few reasons:

The blog didn’t seem like it was getting traffic or had an audience at all. It still may not have an audience.

I lost the “.COM” domain name for this site.

I am not able to post daily which is why I am trying out a weekly schedule.

This blog was born in 2009, so 10 years ago and it has only generated about $47 in AdSense ad revenue. The time required for me to write a post that no one sees makes it not worth it. Although, I’ll give it one more try this year!

Here is to a prosperous 2019! Look for next blog post about a logo that I had designed.

Nike’s New Nothing Beats a Londoner

Some Nike commercials are as memorable for their camerawork, and the way they’re shot, as for their celebrity stars or message of inspiration.

Guy Ritchie’s stunning 2008 spot “Take It to the Next Level” immediately comes to mind. A decade later, the brand’s newest effort from Wieden + Kennedy London, titled “Nothing Beats a Londoner,” is likewise technically breathtaking, in part thanks to the efforts of Riff Raff directors Megaforce.

This week’s movie that I saw was black Panther and it was amazing. Well worth the price of admission. I really liked the movie because it didn’t follow the same theme that most Marvel movies seem to follow these days which is everything gets destroyed. Furthermore, the movie had a real positive message of always following your dreams and goals and never giving up on them, even if you face hardships. Black Panther functions like the best superhero comics, drawing on the history and context of what’s come before while filling in backstory as needed. It totally works as a standalone adventure. Enjoy the movie trailer below!

Stay in the Shadows

It’s not always good to have other people’s attention. Especially when those people are car thieves. This campaign demonstrates that, thanks to Sherlock’s Antitheft Marking, the attention of thieves is diverted elsewhere. The thieves are personified by beams of light that automatically point to vehicles unmarked by Sherlock. They’re inspecting them and getting ready to steal them.

Sometimes, it’s good to stay in the shadows. I haven’t thought about it again until I received my new MoviePass card last week. Therefore, I want to try again. Without further ado, the first trailer I want to share with you is for Molly’s Game.

The movie is about Molly Bloom, a business savvy, former athlete who set up and ran a high stake poker game for actors, business tycoons, and star athletes. I’m sharing the trailer first because I love poker and anything about the subject as well as the fact that it is the first movie I saw using the MoviePass card I told you about above. More importantly, I would like to know what you all, the audience want to get out of a blog post discussing a movie trailer? For me, I just wanted a way to track the different movies that I go to on a weekly basis. This is still primarily an advertising blog, which is why I will only discuss movies with respect to their trailers.

Netflix and Google Made a Google Home Game for Stranger Things Season 2

Add Google to the list of companies that have a Stranger Things season 2 activation.

Netflix partnered with the tech giant to create a voice-activated game for the second season that you play through your Google Home or Google Home Mini voice assistant. The device acts as a walkie-talkie—all you have to do is say “Hey Google, talk to Dustin from Stranger Things” over the course of watching the second season. Players are asked questions about the new season, helping the characters progress in the game. Winners eventually get inducted into the Hawkins AV Club.

Six ways to Improve Your Millennial Marketing

According to the Pew Research Center, Millennials are the nation’s largest living generation. They are a age bracket that lack a long attention span; they crave experiences, activism, and constant connection. They are an age group that doesn’t settle, which means your marketing initiatives have to be a bit more creative in order to attract the right attention.
